June 2019 Update – Notes from the Chair

Dear Members and friends.

There has been a great deal happening at our Centre recently and it is wonderful to welcome the new members who joined us at our quiz evening and via new groups.

We have had constructive meetings with our landlord and we continue to make progress agreeing the new lease.  We have also had helpful meetings with Gloucester City Council.  Thank you for your comments regarding the difficulties of finding spaces in our car park – please pass any feedback on this to the committee

Our grounds and centre continue to improve. Tony has carefully nurtured the new grass and reduced large amounts of weeds. Gloucester Model Railway Club are refreshing the Awdry building and making repairs.  These efforts are being rewarded as we are pleased to be welcome some new user groups.

We’d also be pleased to welcome any other new activities or groups to the Centre and it would be wonderful if you could help spread the word so that these new activities can get established and support the Centre further.

Working with our partners, the Association has started hosting a toddler music group open to childminders. To help build the confidence of the children, this group will perform for other groups within the Elmscroft family and those in residental care locally. For further infomation, please contact the Association.

Some other good news – our Super Sunday Family Stay and Play has been awarded a Community Award from The Rotary Club of Gloucester.  This will be spent on facilities for children at the centre.

While we try to get messages out via email when there are new and interesting things to share, the best way of staying up to date with happenings is via the noticeboard at the centre, or via Facebook and the website.

Have a great summer and I hope to see you at Elmscroft soon.
Anne Radley, Chairman
